D.J. MacHale Books in Order
D.J. MacHale is a versatile writer, director, executive producer, and creator of numerous popular television series and movies. Raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, he honed his work ethic through various part-time jobs, including collecting eggs at a poultry farm, engraving sports trophies, and washing dishes in a steakhouse. After graduating from New York University with a BFA in film production, MacHale began his filmmaking career in New York, creating corporate videos, television commercials, and teaching photography and film production. He broke into the entertainment industry by writing several ABC Afterschool Specials, then made the transition to entertainment in Los Angeles. As co-creator of the hit Nickelodeon series Are You Afraid of the Dark?, MacHale produced all 91 episodes over eight years, earning a CableAce nomination for directing The Tale of Cutter's Treasure. He also received a Gemini nomination for directing The Tale of the Dangerous Soup.
