Wingrove's breakout series, "Chung Kuo," began as a fictional project called "A Perfect Art." After significant revisions, the title was changed to "Chung Kuo," which was eventually sold to 18 international publishers. The series has undergone a major revision, with 19 volumes released, including a prequel and a new final volume. His work has been praised for its intricate world-building and complex characters. Wingrove continues to write, with upcoming projects including a first-person character novel, "Dawn in Stone City." He resides in the UK with his wife, Susan, and their four daughters.
