David Nicholls Books in Order

David Nicholls is a British author, screenwriter, and actor. He studied English Literature and Drama at the University of Bristol, where he later went on to win a scholarship to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. Returning to London in 1991, he earned an Equity card and began working as an actor, landing a three-year stint at the Royal National Theatre and a job as a script reader/researcher at BBC Radio Drama. This led to script-editing roles at London Weekend Television and Tiger Aspect Productions. As he transitioned into writing, he adapted Sam Shepard's stage-play Simpatico and penned his first original script, a situation comedy titled Waiting, later optioned by the BBC. Nicholls's breakthrough came when Simpatico was adapted into a feature film in 1999, allowing him to write full-time. He has garnered two BAFTA nominations and his debut novel Starter for Ten was featured on the first Richard and Judy Book Club.
