David Lynch Books in Order
Born in a quintessential small-town America, David Lynch's childhood was marked by frequent relocations as his research scientist father moved for new opportunities. Lynch attended various art schools, married, and became a father to future director Jennifer Chambers Lynch at 21. This experience, coupled with his time at an art school in Philadelphia's violent and run-down neighborhood, deeply influenced his early work, including ERASERHEAD (1977), which began in the early 1970s and consumed him for five years. Initially deemed unreleasable, the film's cult success, thanks in part to distributor Ben Barenholtz, paved the way for Lynch's iconic films: THE ELEPHANT MAN, DUNE, BLUE VELVET, WILD AT HEART, MULHOLLAND DRIVE, LOST HIGHWAY, and the groundbreaking television series TWIN PEAKS. A multifaceted artist, Lynch is also a respected painter and author.
