Craig Thomas is a renowned Welsh author of thrillers, celebrated for his iconic Mitchell Gant series. Born to a family of literary roots, with his father serving as a rugby union writer for the Western Mail, Thomas was educated at Cardiff High School and later graduated from University College, Cardiff in 1967 with an M.A. following a thesis on Thomas Hardy. As an English Teacher, he worked in various grammar schools in the West Midlands, eventually becoming Head of English at the Shire Oak School in Walsall Wood. Thomas's writing career flourished in two distinct areas: philosophical essays and techno-thrillers. His novels, often set within MI.6, feature the enduring characters of Sir Kenneth Aubrey and Patrick Hyde. The global success of his novel Firefox, adapted into a Hollywood film by Clint Eastwood, catapulted him to international recognition. This breakthrough led to a successful teaching career transition, with Thomas leaving his role in 1977 to focus on his writing full-time. His notable works also include Snow Falcon and A Different War, cementing his status as a master of the genre.
