Chris Ryan is a renowned British author and security expert, born in 1961 in a village near Newcastle. As a former member of the elite SAS Regiment, he joined in 1984 and served for ten years, commanding a sniper team in the anti-terrorist unit. During the Gulf War, Ryan demonstrated extraordinary bravery, surviving a treacherous escape from Iraq, where his eight-man team was ambushed, resulting in the deaths of three colleagues and the capture of four others. This remarkable feat, the longest escape and evasion in SAS history, earned him the Military Medal. After leaving the SAS in 1994, Ryan continued to work in security, traveling globally.
