Carola Salisbury, a celebrated comic strip writer and editor, has crafted a remarkable career in the world of British comics. With a background in art, she trained at Camberwell College of Art and later taught drawing at Nottingham College of Art. Her journey into comics began with submissions of artwork to the Amalgamated Press, which ultimately led to her being hired as a scriptwriter. Initially focusing on Western strips, she soon turned her attention to historical comic strips, penning iconic series such as Max Bravo and Battler Britton. As a gifted editor, Salisbury also created popular magazines like Playhour, Valentine, and Honey. In 1965, she became a main scriptwriter for Ranger, where she created the beloved science-fantasy series The Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire. This enduring tale remains a favorite among British boys' adventure fans to this day.
