Bryce Courtenay Books in Order
Bryce Courtenay is a celebrated author born out of wedlock in 1933 in South Africa. His early life was marked by a tumultuous childhood, split between a small town in the Lebombo mountains and a boarding school that served as an orphanage and reform school. At five, he learned to box as a means of survival, a skill that would stay with him throughout his life. After being sent back to his hometown of Barberton, he was mentored by Doc, a German music teacher who instilled in him a deep appreciation for nature. This unconventional education preceded his formal studies at a prestigious boy's school and later at a university in England, where he studied journalism. Due to his involvement in a weekend school for Africans, Courtenay was banned from returning to his home country, leading him to migrate to Australia, where he met and married his Australian wife, Benita.
