Ben Lerner is a celebrated American poet, novelist, and critic. His critically acclaimed poetry collections, including <i>The Lichtenberg Figures</i> and <i>Mean Free Path</i>, have garnered numerous honors. <i>The Lichtenberg Figures</i> was named one of the year's twelve best books of poetry by <i>Library Journal</i> in 2004 and earned Lerner the prestigious "Preis der Stadt Münster für internationale Poesie" in 2011, making him the first American to receive this honor. His novel, <i>Leaving the Atocha Station</i>, published in 2011, was met with widespread acclaim and named one of the best books of the year by <i>The New Yorker</i>, <i>The Guardian</i>, and other prominent publications. A 1997 graduate of Topeka High School, Lerner holds a B.A. in Political Theory and an MFA in Poetry from Brown University, where he traveled on a Fulbright Scholarship to Madrid, Spain in 2003 to write his second book, <i>Angle of Yaw</i>, a finalist for the National Book Award.
