Barbara Park is a celebrated children's author distinguished by over 40 awards for her books, including 25 Children's Choice recognitions. She is the daughter of a merchant and a secretary, Doris and Brooke Tidswell, and grew up in Mount Holly Township, New Jersey. Park attended Rider College from 1965 to 1967, later completing her B.S. at the University of Alabama in 1969. That same year, she married Richard A. Park, with whom she had two sons, Steven and David. The couple resided in Phoenix, Arizona for nearly three decades. Park is renowned for her popular Junie B. Jones series, garnering seven Children's Choice Awards and four Parents' Choice Awards. Her works also include notable middle grade novels such as The Kid in the Red Jacket.
