April Smith is a multifaceted writer with a career spanning multiple mediums. Born and raised in the Bronx, she went on to attend college in Boston and graduate school in California, laying the groundwork for her future endeavors. Her writing journey began in Cambridge, where she penned her first novel, albeit an unsuccessful one, and honed her skills through advertising copywriting. In 1976, Smith made the move to Los Angeles, where she excelled as a writer and producer for television. The 1988 writer's strike proved to be a turning point, inspiring her to write her debut novel, North of Montana, on spec. Smith's personal life is equally fulfilling, with two grown children and a loving husband of 34 years. A self-proclaimed creative soul, she finds solace in various pursuits, including writing, hiking, and socializing with friends.
