Anton Myrer is a celebrated author known for his exploration of America's loss of innocence and the misuse of power in his works. He is particularly revered for his sweeping novels, The Last Convertible (1978) and Once an Eagle (1968), which chronicle pivotal moments in American history. Once an Eagle, a timeless tale of a regular Army officer and his family spanning multiple wars, has been hailed by Orville Prescott as a "superb story" and "a chilling overview of armed conflict" by the Army War College Foundation. Myrer's other notable works include Evil Under the Sun (1951), The Big War (1957), The Violent Shore (1962), The Intruder: A Novel of Boston (1965), The Tiger Waits (1973), and A Green Desire (1981). Born in Worchester, Massachusetts, Myrer's upbringing in the Berkshires, Cape Cod, and Beacon Hill influenced his writing, drawing from the very settings that shaped his life. A 1941 graduate of Boston Latin School, he went on to attend Harvard.
