Anne Brontë Books in Order

Anne Brontë is a British novelist and poet, the youngest member of the esteemed Brontë literary family. Her two novels, written in a sharp and ironic style, diverge from the romanticism of her sisters, Emily and Charlotte, instead embracing a realistic, observational approach. Although her sister Charlotte's intervention after her death limited the re-publication of her work, particularly "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall", Anne's novels have become classics of English literature, alongside those of her sisters. Born to a poor Irish clergyman, Anne spent most of her life at the Haworth parish on the Yorkshire moors. Her precocious nature was evident from a young age, as her father recalled that when she was four, she astutely replied to his question about what a child most desired, "age and experience". Anne shared a particularly close bond with her sister Emily, and the two created the imaginary world of Gondal, distinct from the world of Angria, created by Charlotte and their brother Branwell.
