Andre Norton is a celebrated author who has made a lasting impact on the science fiction and fantasy genres. She began writing in her teens, inspired by a charismatic high school teacher, and went on to publish her first novel in 1934. Over the years, she has written under several pseudonyms, including Andrew North and Allen Weston. Norton's notable achievements include being the first woman to receive the Gandalf Grand Master Award from the World Science Fiction Society in 1977 and the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 1983.
