Alistair MacLean Books in Order

Alistair Stuart MacLean, son of a Scots Minister, grew up in the Scottish Highlands. He joined the Royal Navy in 1941, at eighteen, and spent two and a half years aboard a cruiser, an experience that informed his groundbreaking novel, <i>HMS Ulysses</i>. After the war, MacLean earned an English Honours degree at Glasgow University and became a schoolmaster. He later received a D. Litt. from the same institution in 1983. As a renowned author, MacLean penned twenty-nine world bestsellers, solidifying his reputation as a master of his genre.
