Alastair MacNeill is a Scottish-born writer, currently residing in Sheffield. Born in 1960 in Greenock, Scotland, MacNeill emigrated to South Africa with his family at the age of six, settling in East London. He returned to the United Kingdom in 1985, determined to establish a writing career. His early success came when he was approached by HarperCollins Publishers, who offered him the chance to write a novel based on an outline by the late Alistair MacLean. MacNeill went on to write seven novels inspired by MacLean's synopses, and has also penned five original novels under his own name.
