Adam Brookes is a Canadian-born journalist turned novelist, raised in the UK's Oxfordshire countryside. A graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, he pursued a career in journalism, initially working in magazines before joining the BBC as a 'copytaster'. He later transitioned to radio production at the BBC World Service and eventually became a foreign correspondent, based in Indonesia, China, and the United States, where he resides. With a wealth of experience reporting from over thirty countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, and Mongolia, for BBC television and radio, Brookes draws upon his life in journalism and years in China to craft compelling stories. His debut novel, 'Night Heron', delves into the world of intelligence, published in 2014 by Little Brown/Sphere in the UK and Hachette/Redhook in the US.
